Faith Formation / Religious Education
Religious education programs begin with an understanding that we are special to God and belong to the community of people who try to live in His love. It continues with the sacramental preparation for Eucharist and Reconciliation and learning about the life and teachings of Jesus and the history of the Church. High school students look at moral decision making and begin a two year preparation for Confirmation. The program includes activities that reach out to members of our parish, our community, and to the homeless in a large, urban area. It strives to increase our awareness of and benefit to our twin parish in Haiti. The adult ministry aims to foster the faith development of adults as they strive to grow in their relationship with Christ. There are two main aspects of this ministry: Adult Ed/Adult Faith Formation, which offers programs that provide opportunities for discussion and/or instruction about the various facets of Catholic belief; and Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, which seeks first to inform inquirers about the Roman Catholic faith and, secondly, provides a process for preparing adults for entry into the Catholic Church.
